Powers
Spheres of Influence:
Life: Fertility gods and healers alike find their home in this sphere. Plant life finds itself invigorated and empowered under the command of these deities, or perhaps the flesh of mortals heals in their very presence. These gods are tied intrinsically to the concept of life in opposition of death and will find the sick more readily fighting off illness, flowers blooming, and even the strength of others growing in their presence. Immune to poisons, they may bolster the strength of others and rejuvenate the dying, borrow the features of plants (thorns, photosynthesis, etc.), hide within plants as large as their body, and as their strength grows, generate plants from nothing at all, grant them immortality, and absolutely heal others. One has to wonder whether resurrection of others is out of the question. NOTE: Diwonuso's ties to Death as well as Life negate the automatic effects of this sphere.
Death: The escorts of souls and the travelers between worlds, this sphere’s rulers have power over travel from this world. Able to travel freely between the Underworld and the surface, these gods cannot be restrained; door nor gate may keep death from it’s quarry. While not able to heal others, gods of death may find that they can delay the fate of the mortally wounded, including their own, for a time. They may sense when someone dies, or is nearing that threshold, and perhaps even glean insight about one’s death by touching their body or a personal belonging. They may bring death to those who desire it with but a touch, and see the shades of those who refuse to pass on, casting them down where they belong. They may become immaterial for a brief time, and send the undead back below where they belong. With a touch, they may slowly drain vitality from the living. NOTE: Diwonuso lacks the ability to become immaterial, drain life, or grant death with a touch.
Nature: The gods who draw from the plants on earth are in this sphere. They find themselves more powerful when standing in lush forest environments or other such places, and are greatly weakened when standing in urban environments to the point where they may not be able to use the majority of their powers. These gods can call upon the plants to attack their enemies, such as having vines wrap around to trap opponents, or trees to suddenly start hitting people with branches. They can call upon animals to help them fight, and some can sink into the earth and burst out to ambush opponents. Some more powerful gods can transform into any animal they wish, and can even create ents, giant golems to fight for the god or protect them. NOTE: Diwonuso has a particular connection with non-tree plant life, especially ivy. (He cannot directly manipulate wood.) As for animals, snakes and marine mammals are his particular specialty.
Emotion: Gods in the sphere of Emotion can influence the minds/feelings of others to a degree. Making people paranoid, angry, in love, etc. Turning regular people into raving followers is not unheard of from this sphere, though this is not permanent unless the person is willing.
Personal Powers: Diwonuso has a penchant for transmuting things, such as ropes into ivy vines, masts and oars into snakes, flesh to gold, or his personal favorite, water into wine. (Obviously, player targets must give permission.) He can also produce convincing audiovisual hallucinations and freely pass between the underworld, otherworld, and mortal realm. His special connection to mind altering substances also lets him sense blood alcohol content, alcohol, hallucinogens, etc. and alcohol-bend as it were. He can also understand anyone's language if they are sufficiently impaired.
Weaknesses: Diwonuso is a god of the cycle of life unto death and back again, and the uninhibited wilds. Thus, he is weakened by being away from nature. He combats this in part with wine, a symbolic drink that represents all of his spheres. However, this doesn't maintain his full strength. Thirst is therefore a big weakness for him as well. He is near-constantly drinking.
Skills: Unfortunately, Diwonuso is not a skillful man in anything other than words. He is a silver tongued wastrel.
History
Birthday: January 1st
Relations: Son of Diwe and Proserpina, (and Semele.)
Birthplace: Crete.
Current Residence: Homeless.
History: Not much to say. He's a wanderer who lives for the moment, although centuries back he was torn to shreds by titans and abandoned in the woods after being reborn... Another reason why he loves nature and hates cities.
RP Mechanics
Fluff: His horns, while usually kept hidden via his powers, are visible to those that can see the truth, or to those that begin to go mad or drunk. Also, his eyes seem to shift kaleidoscopically between colors while he uses his abilities.
Minions: The Diwonusian Wine Cult & The Maenads.
